It’s the 30th day in June – time to check out how our number 30 is getting on this month.

Aaron Anselmino makes his debut.

The sum of his minutes so far were 2 minutes as a late sub on Saturday night as Chelsea looked to close out their win against Benfica. But the process has more been about adapting to England and a new continent than playing.

Inclusion in the squad for the Club World Cup will have helped his integration further, and Enzo Maresca will have a really solid idea about what the Argentine offers now. The next step is likely a loan out, with a few options on the table.

Marseille were very interested in him back in January, and that feels like a move that could be reignited. Generally there’s a preference to send players to Premier League teams if possible as it provides the best preparation for playing for Chelsea – but if teams abroad who are playing in Europe are keen and can offer regular football, that’s always appealing too.

We’ve heard almost nothing this summer so far about a potential move, but we expect that to change pretty soon. Once the dust has settled on the CWC, Chelsea will return to Cobham and start sending a whole group of players – including Anselmino – out on loan.
